At the recent Sydney boat show, Jeanneau Aust. was promoting the new Sun Odyssey 379. In the long list of options available they mention the NSS8 chartplotter, the Sonichub and something which none of the sales people could explain "PC Interface at the Nav table". Does this just mean the ability to view DVD's played on a laptop at the Nav table and viewed on the NSS8 in the cockpit? Or, could information from the NSS8 be viewed on a laptop at the Nav table? Any explanation appreciated.

Hi Gazza The PC interface at the NAv table is in reference to the Simrad USB plug that is bulkhead mounted at the nav station. What this USB plug enables is for you to take NMEA0183 data from the network to share GPS data onto the third party nav software you may run on your laptop. It wont allow you to run DVDs into the system. To do this you will need to run them through the Video input on the back ofthe NSS units.
