The navigation crew on board Loki have been using Baron QuikLink's world marine weather package to provide them with leading-edge weather information since the 2010 Sydney-Hobart yacht race. They are very pleased with the performance, and impressed with the quality and accuracy of data supplied.
The 63 foot maxi yacht Loki only needs to finish the Sydney-Newcastle race to win the CYCA's Bluewater Pointscore for 2010/2011.
Loki is not the only racing yacht who uses Baron QuikLink. Others include Wot Eva - the TP52 owned and sailed by Sailors With disAbilities, and LMR Solar (Frantic). Both also completed in the 2010 Sydney-Hobart.
Not only does Baron QuikLink provide exclusive weather data, such as worldwide rain rate and lightning, but numerous ocean navigators have praised the ocean current data as better than competitors - better even than competitors who apparently specialize in this area.
QuikLink provides a complete set of live and forecast weather information, including:
- Worldwide rain rate (like rain radar, but even where no radars exist)
- Worldwide lightning
- Wind speed and direction
- Wave heights, direction and period
- Ocean currents and sea surface temperatures
- Visibility, barometric pressure, live observations, and much, much more!
